Individual Project | 01 Machining a Top

During my first individual project I was able to take my newly acquired knowledge of sketching and modeling in order to machine a  physical object. The project gave me the chance to become familiar with the different machines that technicians use to create real products and relate the process to designs we create in class.

Before machining my top I learned how  to dimensions accurately.  I understood how to create engineering drawings that could communicate a design. Therefore when I worked with the lathe, band saw, and milling machine I was able to translate the given dimensions into the top.  While fabricating the top I was taught how to use the machines in a safe and correct procedure. Overall the understanding I had of dimensions gave me the ability to work with 2D drawings and 3D objects.
