Team Project | 01 Work for All

The goal of our team project was to create a product that would help our client perform their work better. Our client worked doing laundry and mopping floors. At the end of our project we had two solutions we were able to present to our client. During the project we were able to work in the machine shop and face to face with an actual client.

In the machine shop we were able to create a  prototype and a final design. During this process I was able to refine my skills on the lathe and on the mill. I was also able to learn how to use a metal saw. When designing the final project I was able to talk to our client and figure what design changes we could make to improve it. My group and I changed the dimensions to fit the clients arm better. We also used material that is water resistant and could be sanitized at the workplace. From this I was able to learn more about design choices and how to make a product with specifications for a client. The second solution was a mop handle that we ordered online. We were able to research different solutions that were already made and choose the best fitting for our client.

After completing this project I was able to take away better design and communication skills. I learned how to interview and observe a client to find out their specific needs. I then took this information and implemented it into an actual design.
